It all started with a dream...

Nellie's Catwalk for Kids (NC4K) was started back in 2006 by Nellie Krumlauf when she was 16 years old in the efforts of bringing childhood cancer to the forefront. The organization started off as just a summer fashion show wanting to get local kids and teens involved in helping make a magical difference. NC4K has now evolved into a 501 C3 non-profit that has four main community events including: a dance marathon, 5K run, golf outing, and a fashion show. In addition to community events NC4K has over 15 high school Nellie's Clubs all ran by upperclassmen. The first Nellie's Club was started back in 2009 by Jessica Soroky at Pickerington North High School. Now she is the Manager of all the clubs and helping NC4K expand to other high schools. NC4K's mission is to actively help kids and teens and their families that are touched by cancer. The money raised from all of our events help us work in conjunction with Nationwide Children's Hospital Oncology Unit by supporting the families in every way possible. Funds donated also help us increase more awareness for pediatric cancer and grow the organization as a whole. NC4K's main goals are to inform communities of how they can help pediatric cancer families, to raise more funds to help families with a child battling cancer, expand outside of Ohio to help more families, and the -ultimate goal- to help find a cure!

In just five years...

NC4K has achieved so much in such a short amount of time and the response we have received from the community has been tremendous!

Below are highlights from the past five years which show just how quickly NC4K is evolving.

2007-Nellie's Catwalk for Kids was created and the first event was a summer fashion show because Nellie wanted to tie her passion to fashion. There were 25 kids and teens that modeled in the first fashion show held at Grand Host East in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. One hundred people were in attendance helping raise approximately $3,000!

2008-NC4K out grew the prior venue and partnered with The Hilton Hotel at Easton Town Center for the 2nd annual fashion show! There were 50 models that walked down the catwalk with 500 guests in attendance helping raise approximately $11,000!

2009-NC4K returned to the Hilton Hotel for the 3rd annual fashion show. There were 75 models including 'Brutus' the Ohio State Mascot and NBC Channel 4's local news anchors as the emcees for the evening. There were 1,000 guests in attendance that helped raise approximately $18,000! NC4K started the Christmas project which helped take care of Christmas presents for 5 families with a child in treatment. In the spring of 2009 NC4K moved into the NC4K headquarters where they hold meetings, work efficiently, and store donated items for families and events!

2010-NC4K once again out grew the Hilton Hotel at Easton and moved to Aladdin Shrine Temple. Models grew to a total of 150 and had various scenes like Candyland, Hollywood, In The Jungle, and other themes. There were 2,000 guests in attendance helping raise over $25,000 in less than 4 hours! In addition to the fashion show the very first Nellie's Club was created at Pickerington North High School by 17 year old Jessica Soroky. Jessica then expanded the number of clubs to 15 in less than one year! NC4K launched the Nellie's Kid and Teen Club to be a resource for families. The NC4K family Christmas project expanded to serving over 15 families by taking care of their Christmas presents. A golf outing was added which became one of the four annual events. With the help of our sponsors, NC4K has a wrapped vehicle called the Nellie Mobile that drives all over Columbus to raise awareness for childhood cancer.

2011-This year has just begun and it is going to be the biggest year ever! The amount of Nellie's Clubs is multiplying. Two other main events were added-a dance marathon and 5k run. Models are already signed up for the 5th Annual fashion show set for Friday August 5th with over 300 models and an expected 3,000 guests in attendance with a goal of $50,000 to be raised in just one night! Our Corporate Sponsors include: Chipotle, Coca-Cola,Dunkin Donuts, Coughlin Hyundai, Hungry Howie's, Bartha Visual, Paul Mitchell Salons, Hilton Hotel, Key Bank, Keller Williams Ohio Realty, Round 2, and many local businesses and families!
